Frequently Asked Questions
What are your qualifications?
I hold a Professional Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills (SCQF Level 7), and a BSc in Psychology.
Is therapy
confidential?
Yes. Everything we discuss in your sessions is kept strictly confidential. I follow ethical and legal guidelines to protect your privacy. The only time I may need to break confidentiality is if I believe you're at risk of harming yourself or someone else—your safety is always my top priority.
What counselling experience do you have?
I have two years of experience providing counselling face-to-face, online and by telephone. I’ve worked as a counsellor at Edinburgh College, supporting students, and at Therapeutic Counselling Services (TCS) through an Employee Assistance Programme.
Can I add you on social media?
You’re welcome to follow my professional accounts on Instagram and TikTok (@counselling_with_alex), where I share updates and reflections about therapy. I’ll respond to comments or messages, but I don’t offer counselling through social media and will never identify you as a client.
Will you be offering face-to-face sessions?
Right now, I’m offering online and telephone counselling only. That said, I’m planning to offer face-to-face sessions in the future as my private practice grows.
Do you have a question that I haven’t answered?
If you’re still wondering about something please don’t be afraid to ask. Just get in touch and I’ll get back to you!
